Darling

Darling-Panoramic%20photo.jpg The district of Darling lies very close to the West Coast of South Africa. Strongly influenced by the cold Atlantic Ocean, the area is famous for its profusion of wild flowers which, in spring, are a delight to behold, with 10 wild flower reserves found in and around Darling. Species endemic to Darling make up part of this spectacular floral diversity. Darling is located within the West Coast Biosphere, a UNESCO proclaimed area of coastal lowland plains, and its wineries are committed to conserving the precious Renosterveld which is found in the area. All are actively pursuing both membership and champion status in the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative programme.
